-Amp'd Mobile to Broadcast the Semis and Finals Live Saturday-

Live webcast available at www.bodyglovesb06.asglive.com

SAN CLEMENTE, Calif., April 28, 2006 - The best waves of the contest with strong consistent sets were the highlight of day four of the Association of Surfing Professionals (ASP) four-star Body Glove Surfbout Presented by Adio and day one of the grade-two Oakley Pro Junior.  Surfing's veterans went head-to-head against some of the sport's rising stars and the young talent repeatedly prevailed.

Both contests conclude Saturday with Amp'd Mobile broadcasting the semi-final and final rounds of the Body Glove Surfbout and final round of the Oakley Pro Junior live to Amp'd Mobile phones, a first for U.S. wireless provider.  In addition to the live broadcast, Amp'd is offering a demo of WaveWatch.com's mobile version beginning Thursday April 27 and continuing through the contest.  Please visit www.ampd.com for more information.

Lowers' notorious split peak barrels rolled in consistently today, hyping up the competition and kicking off the first heat of the day.  CJ Hobgood, capitalized on the peak sets posting a 9.27 and 6.0, to advance out of the heat.

World Championship Tour (WCT) surfer, Luke Steadman power carved his way to take first in heat 10, while Puerto Rico's Dylan Graves wracked up an 8.0 and 6.8, advancing over veteran Pat O'Connell.

Local favorite Rob Machado, charged in heat 14 commanding the consistent sets.  Machado scored an 8.83 posting on a split wave, a shared score with Shane Beschen, and secured the top slot with his second wave. "I caught so many waves out there," said Machado. "I'm just trying to catch my breath."

With the start of the round of 32, and an additional five minutes added to the heats, competitors paddled hard for waves as the intensity built toward the finals.  In heat one, WCT rookie Jarrad Howse and World Qualifying Series (WQS) warrior Nate Yeomans went head-to-head.  Both advanced, with Yeomans taking top honors.  Heat two showcased Dustin Cuizon and Austin Ware both grabbing strong scores moving them into Saturday's quarterfinals.

Heat three started off slow with Shea Lopez stealing first position from Alex Gray. But as a late series of sets came in and the horn sounded, Gray cranked out an 8.5 on his last ride allowing him to reclaim the lead and take the win. Advancing behind him, by less than a point, was Yuri Sodre.

In the last three minutes of heat four, Greg Long, landed a series of back hand turns to clinch the exact 7.17 score he needed to advance. But the heat was not over until Mitchell Coleburn posted a strong 8.5 followed by a monster 9.63 from Damien Hobgood, knocking Long out of contention. "The way it worked out, whoever waited for that last wave was going to win," said Hobgood. "It was really close out there and basically it came down to that last exchange."

Later, in a talent packed heat, Che Stang's frontside attack was all he needed to outdo Rob Machado, Taylor Knox and Asher Nolan. Stang wracked up an 8.0 and a 9.5 with a series of big turns which left the field comboed.  Asher Nolan continued to defend his Macy's CA Trifecta Surf Series points title taking the transfer slot from Knox with a 6.0 at the horn.

2005 World Junior Champion Kekoa Bacalso won heat eight, and fittingly, the contest shifted gears immediately afterwards as the Oakley Pro Junior's opening round hit the water.

Comprised of a draw of 32 of the world's best surfers under the age of 20, the Oakley Pro Junior is a chance for domestic and international juniors to compete for qualification into the World Junior Championships held in Australia.

Standouts in today's initial heats were William Cardoso, Killian Garland, Dylan Graves, Alex Gray, Sterling Spencer and Tommy Bursian.

Gray in particular was blazing hot. Late in heat five, he nabbed a long, running right and absolutely demolished it for a perfect 10.0. Looking confident and comfortable in his junior heat, he easily took the win. "It was perfect, sparkling Lowers conditions, with only four guys in the line up" said Gray. "I've never surfed Lowers this good in my life."  Gray is currently slated to surf in the quarter-finals of the main event and round two of the Oakley Pro Junior.

The Body Glove Surfbout Presented by Adio and the Oakley Pro Junior will commence Saturday at 8 a.m. with the quarters, semis and finals of both.  The awards ceremony will immediately follow at 2 p.m.  With the swell scheduled to remain solid and the competition thickening, Saturday's close promises to be a scorcher.  Live scoring and press updates of both events are available at www.bodyglovesb06.asglive.com.

The Surfbout is also the first stop of the Macy's California Trifecta Surf Series. The Trifecta was formed in 2005 as part of a three-year plan to strengthen surfing in America by uniting the Body Glove Surfbout presented Adio, the Newport Pro presented by Wavewatch, and the O'Neill Cold Water Classic under one banner.   The Trifecta will award a $33,333 bonus to the surfer that takes first-place in all three events.  Should no one surfer take the win in all three events, the Trifecta also awards an overall points-winner bonus of $10,000.

As a part of the ASP North American tour, the Surfbout is supported by Body Glove, Adio Footwear, Oakley Eyewear, Amp'd Mobile and Macy's West. The 2006 Body Glove Surfbout presented by Adio is pleased to have media support from PRIMEDIA's Action Sports Group (ASG), publisher of SURFER, SURFING and WaveWatch, as well as The San Clemente Times and FUEL TV.

FUEL TV will telecast the Body Glove Surfbout on June 12, 2006 at 9:30 p.m.  For additional FUEL TV airdates and show times, check www.fuel.tv.  Check out the Body Glove Surfbout and all of the Macy's California Trifecta Surf Series surf spots at www.WaveWatch.com
