8801066852 (Adio package)
8801072640 (Oakley package)
San Clemente, CA (April 24, 2006) – Thanks to our friends at Body Glove, Adio, Oakley and ASG, the Surfrider Foundation is kicking off a weeklong auction today benefiting the Foundation’s Save Trestles campaign.
For the next seven days, surfing fans and other beach and coastal supporters can log on to eBay to bid on any or all of three separate packages, including a Body Glove Package, an Adio package and an Oakley package. All three packages include signed surfboards from top pros such as CJ Hobgood, Taylor Knox, Chris Ward and others, as well as Vapor wetsuits from Body Glove, shoes and apparel from Adio, and watches, eyewear and gear from Oakley.
To review or bid on the auction lots, simply go to http://www.ebay.com and search for the following auction lots: 8801062246 (Body Glove package), 8801066852 (Adio package) and 8801072640 (Oakley package). 100% of all monies raised through the auction will be donated to the Surfrider Foundation’s "Save Trestles" campaign.
The Surfrider Foundation is currently working to thwart plans to build an eight lane toll road through the local San Mateo Creek watershed. If constructed, the project will not only jeopardize the nearby surfing resources at Trestles, but the popular San Onofre State Beach Park as well. The Surfrider Foundation and its coalition partners recently filed litigation against the company building the toll road, the Transportation Corridor Agency, on the grounds that the project violates California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA).
“The donations raised from this auction will help to ensure that the Surfrider Foundation continues to do everything it can to protect the San Mateo Creek Watershed and the breaks in and around Trestles,” says Mark Rauscher, Surfrider Assistant Environmental Director.
The “Save Trestles” auction is being held in conjunction with the Body Glove Surfbout presented by Adio, and Oakley Pro Junior, which are being held at Lower Trestles April 25th through the 29th. The event is the first stop on the Macy’s California Trifecta Series.
“Trestles has been home to the Surfbout event for a long time,” says Body Glove’s VP of Marketing, Scott Daley. “It’s a special place for a lot of reasons and we feel that it’s important that we give something back.”
The Surfrider Foundation is a non-profit grassroots organization dedicated to the protection and preservation of our world’s oceans, waves and beaches. Founded in 1984 by a handful of visionary surfers, the Surfrider Foundation now maintains over 50,000 members and 63 chapters across the United States and Puerto Rico, with international affiliates in Australia, Europe, Japan and Brazil.
